AvaTrade offers four account types Retail, Professional, Spread betting and Options, although the spread betting account is limited to residents of the UK and Republic of Ireland. For clients based in the EU and UK to qualify for a professional account, they must meet the ESMA regulation criteria.
The main difference between a Retail account and a Professional account is the leverage which is offered. Retail clients are offered maximum leverage of 30:1 whereas professional clients receive 400:1 on forex pairs and 25:1 on cryptocurrencies. However, these leverage rates can change depending on the regional jurisdiction an account is opened.
An Islamic account – where no overnight swaps are charged can also be opened by traders who like their account managed according to Sharia Law. Clients can also open an AvaOptions account to trade vanilla options. A breakdown of account types is shown below:
Opening an account is straight forward. Users can click register from the websites home page to sign up using their name, email, and contact number. Following this, users will be prompted to fill in a registration form, verify their identity and address with the relevant documents, and have the option to fund their account.

AvaTrade accounts must be funded with a minimum of $100, however, this is dependent on the base currency of the account.
